What is sex therapy & how can it help you?

Sex therapy is a specialized form of therapy that addresses sexual concerns and improves well-being. It helps with issues like erectile dysfunction, low libido, and communication problems in relationships. The therapy takes a holistic approach, considering physical, psychological, and relational factors. Therapists use various techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy and education on sexual anatomy. The therapy promotes self-awareness, communication, and healthier behaviors. It celebrates pleasure, desire, and intimacy while reducing shame and anxiety. Sex therapy improves mental health, self-esteem, and relationship satisfaction. Find a qualified therapist to support your sexual well-being and enhance your life.

Overcome struggles with guidance today

Why is certification so important when it comes to finding a sex therapist?

No aspect of the human experience is more intimate and vulnerable than sex and sexuality. AASECT (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors & Therapists) Certified Sex Therapists are licensed mental health professionals trained to assess, diagnose, and provide in-depth psychotherapy far beyond the requirements in most psychology programs.

Sex therapists work with sexual concerns, including, but not limited to: sexual function and dysfunction; sexual pleasuresexual variation; sexuality and disability; sexuality and chronic illness; sexual development across the lifespansexual abuse, assault, and coercion; and sexuality across culturesidentity, expression, lifestyle, and gender.

In addition, they are knowledgeable in providing comprehensive and intensive psychotherapy over an extended period in more complex cases. In addition, they go through their own bias and sensitivity training. They are supervised for an additional minimum of 18 months to ensure ethical and clinically indicated application of what they learn.

Because the title Certified Sex Therapist is not a protected or monitored title in every state, some people may use the title without having done such intensive training. Given the sensitive nature of sexual health, it is best to entrust your sexual concerns to an AASECT certified professional.

All our clinicians are members of AASECT and are AASECT Certified Sex Therapists, AASECT Certified Sex Therapy Supervisors, or AASECT Sex Therapy Candidates. All of our clinicians have expertise in the intersection of mental health and sexuality. Our therapists receive supervision, training, and mentoring in holistic mental health, relationship dynamics, and sexuality.
