Meet Alexus!

LMFT, Clinician

Welcome! I’m Alexus Martinez and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My goal is to provide a sex positive and nonjudgmental environment for young adults and couples struggling with gender identity, sexual orientation, and infidelity to cultivate self-love and acceptance. I utilize inter-systems theory, taking interventions from mindfulness, narrative, and Gestalt therapy to move clients toward more fulfilling interpersonal relationships and achieving their goals.

Areas of Specialty

Couples & Marriage
Conscious Uncoupling
Couples opening up to or in ethical non-monogamy (ENM) relationships
Erectile & Ejaculation Issues
Painful Sex: Vulvodynia & Dyspareunia

Radical Self-Acceptance

To love ourselves unconditionally is radical self-acceptance. Negative feelings such as shame, doubt, and unworthiness can hinder our ability to connect with others and ourselves, thus limiting our potential. I meet clients where they are; focusing on their strengths to integrate mind, body, and soul. Through that connection, we can work together to readjust our narrative and discover the freedom that comes with self-love, kindness, and appreciation.

LGBTQIA+

Social justice and anti-oppression work are common themes throughout my education, training, therapeutic lens, and engagement in daily life. Our society often makes it difficult for gender and sexual minorities to feel safe and comfortable in their own skin. I aim to provide a safe and affirming space for clients to engage with and connect to their whole self, free from judgement or shame. No matter where you are in your gender or sexuality journey, I am here to support you.

How I Help

My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for people to explore their authentic selves and heal. I use empathy, compassion, and playfulness to facilitate a mind, body, soul connection. Meeting my clients where they are at in their healing process, we work collaboratively to find the most efficient techniques and tools to work past limiting beliefs that hinder our growth. I use a strength-based approach, incorporating somatic experiencing and mindfulness.

More About Me

I am a partner, sister, daughter, friend, cat mom, moon lover. Most of the time you can find me dancing, whether I’m out with friends, in a class, or in a grocery store. Our bodies were made to move and I find dancing connects me to my truest self. I am forever a student, constantly curious and learning. I do so via school, reading, and television, although my favorite form of learning comes from traveling.

Forcing ourselves to be happy is not genuine or productive; being honest about what we feel while remaining calm and aware is the real work.
